I definitely have anxiety over killing characters that I have come to know and care for. In the serial I am writing, there are quite a few characters and there will only be more and more coming into the main character's world. I know some of her companions are going to have to hit the road to make room for more, and although it's sad to think that some of them are going to die, it's also exciting and thrilling to not know where the characters are going to take me. I agree with you though. No matter what, some characters just HAVE to die.

Actually, Nurarihyon is licensed by Viz Media. Youkai in anime always seems to be a big draw for me, so I'm always interested in a good story about them.

Thanks Kate -- I'm glad you touched on the charging for a listing bit. One of the main reasons I included the bit about paying for listings is because I'm iffy about them too.

There's also the bit where that would only apply for premium listings. I can't decide whether that's fair or unfair to ask.

Still, in these challenging financial times being what they are... I could definitely use the support, specifically to maintain the site.

I hate Google Ads... or any other because it tends to be a tiny payout for disfiguring my site. I might have to bite the bullet and sacrifice aesthetics for keeping my site alive though...

Although the thought makes me cringe. lol.

Some people, I think are willing to pay or contribute to premium content though. I basically want some way to encourage readers to actually support authors in a tangible way.

Yes - Genre would be a second or third tier category option. Right now I'm thinking 3 main genre options would be could. Anything additional could be included in the entry's tags/keywords.

Great idea! I have nothing to add but that I agree with the previous posters. I believe you already have it subdivided by Genre, no? I guess that would be the only other thing to remark upon.

1. I think the new structure is an improvement, as it categorizes stories by format. Separating the free from premium is a good idea as well, but premium content may keep some people away from said content.

Regarding the short-fiction section, maybe the short stories, flash fiction, microfiction and poetry could have their sub-sections in that area?

2. Mm.. nothing I can really think of.

3. Regarding the list price.. I think that's best left to those who write such content. The price may vary with the author, so you're likely to find some middle ground.

I think it's a good idea to separate the premium from the free fiction. I'm not sure I would put short fiction and poetry in the same category. They have a different audience. Charging for a listing in a directory is a little unusual and might be resisted by people. I think I would be more likely to pay for results rather than potential. A pay per click like Google ads might work. There are scripts you can install to count these. An example:http://www.phpjunkyard.com/php.... I'm sure there are other types too.

I wasn't sure if the dog had upgrades or nano circutry in its neural net. I wasn't even sure it was a real dog. But its stare was almost human, its bark pleading. It didn't want to go "out" as that would have meant some serious decompression and boiling blood. That face. That bark. She was telling me somethong-something about extra-dimensional being hovering just outside my ability to percieve. Something about betrayal. Something cold as an uninsulated alloy cracking at the edge of a methane cliff.
